Using eraser photo app

I am trying to edit a photo I took with my phone and erase some text. I see the edit tool for an eraser but can't figure out how to get it to erase anything. I can use the markers just fine but the eraser doesn't seem to work the same way.

Anyone able to explain to me how it works?

Erasing an object from a photo using markup eraser iPhoto’s markup tool shows a pixel eraser and an object eraser. I cannot get either one to do anything to a photo. How does the eraser work? I do not want to make a sticker, I want the object “gone”. Google phones do this seamlessly and I would prefer not having to purchase an app for that. I am using a fully updated iPad Pro 12.9, 5th generation. Thank you.

Erasing Objects in Apple Photos Editor How does the native iOS 17 photo editor’s object eraser (which looks like - toggle on an eraser on the end of a pencil) work compared to the pixel eraser (which is also a toggle on the end of the pencil eraser)? For me the pixel eraser erases only what I draw on the photo. When I toggle it to the object eraser, it erases nothing. What is it supposed to be doing, and/or, what am I doing wrong ? One instruction told me it was on the magic wand but I have no eraser choices there.

Are you trying to erase text you just typed in Markup mode, or text that existed in the original picture? The eraser tool only works on Markup mode text and graphics, not on the base picture.
