Screen turns on and off right after pressing Touch Id button

My brand new Macbook Pro M3 Pro model is experiencing a weird behaviour, when I try to wake it up after a few minutes of sleep I press the power/Touch ID button once but the screen turns on and off right away. I need a second touch to turn the screen and access to login screen (or directly to desktop if touch ID is enable), if I wait without login, and let it go back to sleep I can use the power button just fine no screen flickering, if i wait for a few more minutes the screen flickering happens again.

Any ideas on how to solve this?

If the macbook is already woken but locked, then TouchID works fine without pressing down the power button.

If the macbook is in sleep mode with the screen open, and I wake it by pressing any key and then TouchID works fine without pressing down the power button.

However:

If the macbook is in sleep mode with the screen open, and I try to wake it by just touching the TouchID (without pressing it) it doesn't do anything. If I press it down then it reproduces the behavior described above (the quick screen flash) If I then press it down again it works just fine.

I can reproduce the same issue just by pressing down the power button while avoiding touching the touch Id. So this is not a touchId issue.

Hit any other key but the TouchID if you are trying to light it up...and compare your results

TouchID does not require a push.

This is a combination key— if the Mac is shutdown, yes you can simply open the lid or press as a power button, however press any key for the machine to boot. Press any key if the Mac is asleep.

If you have lock screen set and the display is still on, just lay your Finger on the TouchID sensor is all that is required

I would suggest to you—

press any other key besides the TouchID/Power button to wake your Mac w/ the screen open.

I see no issue here.
