Apple SuperDrive Would Mount Any of My CD's or DVD's

I've connected my Apple SuperDrive to my Mac Studio. When I insert either a music CD or DVD disk in the SuperDrive, the disk will not mount.

When I use Disk Utility to try and mount a disk, even though Disk Utility recognizes the SuperDrive, it still will not mount the disk. When I try to mount I get the following error message:

Could not mount “Audio CD”. (com.apple.DiskManagement.disenter error -119930872.)

Need help to get this resolved.

Is the SuperDrive connected directly to you Studio's USB-A port or is it connected through a hub or dock? The later seldom if ever works. The SD needs a lot of power that it can only get firectly from the computer port.

Does the drive spit out the disk when that happens? Are the disks burned of commercial?

Please forgive me if the next question sounds trite or demeaning—it is not. It is 100% necessary to ask because it is, surprisingly, the #1 cause of SuperDrive problems I've worked here:

Is the drive's silver side up?

Thanks for replying to my query even though the title is incorrect. It should have read my Apple Superdrive WON"T Mount Any of My CD's or DVD's.

Anyway, the SuperDrive has been connected directly to the Mac Studio either directly to the USB-A port or via a USB-A to USB-C adapter. No hub was used.

The drive does not spit the disk out when loaded. As previously indicated, the drive plus the disk is indicated in using the Disk Utility app, but I will get an error message when trying to mount the disk using the app.

Commercial and non-commercial disk have been used.

And yes, the silver side of the drive is up.

One of the thing I've noticed is that even though an audio CD disk is not mounted, if I go into the Adobe Audition application, I can use the app to extract audio files from the disk even though, again, the disk is not mounted and shown on the Desktop. However, when I try to retrieve data from a DVD that stores data, Audition does not read any data from the disk.

That is indeed an odd set of symptoms. In addition to these forums, I would consider checking the Adobe Audition user forums for similar reports.

Is it OK with you if I ask our Mods to move this to the Mac Studio forums? Although not intuitively labeled, technically "Older Hardware" means pre-2006 devices and this section gets painfully few views. It's like posting a "lost puppy" poster on the inside of a sewer pipe! 😳

You should get more views and more comments if we get you moved. Please let me know.

I'll check back later this evening.
