Yesterday I noticed a large number of photos did loose earlier manual assigned person details. So I did reassign names to number of them, later yesterday evening it checked it and it was still okay. Today I checked it again and the situation did return to the situation of yesterday morning. I need to redo my yesterdays work again. What is happening?

Did you just install a system upgrade on any of your devices and are you syncing your devices with iCloud Photos? A system upgraded can result in a new scan for faces, and if there are conflicting face names on your devices the conflicting names will be removed. I would wait with the assigning of names until the scan for faces has finished on all your devices that are syncing with iCloud Photos. Some of the lost names might be coming back, once the devices are in sync again. While you are waiting, you could assign the names as keywords to the photos, where the names have vanished. This will make it easier to find any lost names and to reassign them in future when the next system upgrade will be necessary. I am using smart albums for this.
