My Apple Watch Ultra 2 has been acting sporadic
My watch went crazy today, flicking between different screens, typing its own texts, I couldn’t stop it or turn it off, had to just wait for battery to go flat to stop.

It's a bug in 10.3 on s9 and U2 watches.
Update phone to iOS17.4.1 and watch to watch OS 10.4
If a hard reboot does not fix it then Wipe Watch and set up again then update
Put Apple Watch on its charger.
Press and hold the side button until you see the screen with the power button in the upper-right corner, then let go of the side button. If your Apple Watch has an earlier version of watchOS, you see the Power Off slider instead of the power button.
Press and hold the Digital Crown until you see the red Reset button.
Tap Reset, then tap Reset again to confirm.
After Apple Watch unpairs completely, you can pair again. Remember that you'll need the Apple ID and password that were used to set up the watch.
Your comment should be pinned at the top. It's the only comment that provides useful and correct information. I'll upvote all your posts. Don't know it that will help but letting the battery run down and hoping the watch magically fixes itself like the top comment said is just ignorant
My UW2 freaked like this tonight. Started a ton of timers, looked like someone was trying to guess passcode, opened a bunch of apps and then locked itself (and me) out. Managed to re-boot and then had to wait until the lock timeout passed. After that, re-booted again and so far, seems ok. What the heck happened???
Good evening,
On Friday, April 12, 2024, at approximately 5:15 pm, my Apple Ultra watch started having convulsions. It started rapidly blinking in and out, flashing off and on, and not responding to any of my commands. The call I was on, "witch" was life threatening because one of my officers was just in a major accident, disconnected me from the call. It's been well over an hour now and its trying to input a password. I can't stop it! If memory serves me correctly, it started a 5 mins and started counting down. I took it off to attempt to input the correct code and it stepped on the gas looking for another code. Now I have to wait 15 mins. 30 mins. Every time "it" puts in the wrong code, it adds more time and starts counting down. Now its at a full 60 mins. I've attempted several solutions given by the community but to no avail. I'll wait until the battery dies then try. If it persist, I'll have NO CHOICE but to go to the Apple store. I don't have time for this. I literally just became an Apple customer in January.
I had the same problem with the Apple Watch Ultra 2 today. Thanks to the information in this forum, I was able to hard-reboot and recover, but how can I trust it won't happen again in the future!?
I am very disappointed by Apple, bugs like this shouldn't be happening. Where is the QA in this company? Why push such ****** code to production as a tested update!?
Someone must get fired for this!!!
I tried that like ten times If the power button would come on it would disappear before I could press it or I pressed it while it was in the screen and it did nothing. Sometimes it would go to the slide to power off button but it wouldn't slide at all and then disappear! As I said I let it sit in my drawer until the watch battery died sometime today. Put it on the charger and a few seconds the apple logo lit up and it powered up like normal! Since I have already unpaired and reset the watch, then repaired it to my phone, I don't think it is going to work. I checked for updates today and it said it is up to date! I worried if I bring it in for repair I will lose the pulse-ox feature! Due to my health problems that is a big reason for buying the watch in the first place!
Well it is working ok now. so I still believe it is a software problem. Hardware doesn't fix themselves so usually it will fail right away after reset. Maybe Apples update didn't fix the problem for everyone! I will wait for awhile as I have Apple care.

Unfortunately this STUPID forum shows the wrong post as best reply just because it got most sympathy votes.

Thats a real nice reply!
Still think I work for Apple??
I don't pull posts, the moderators do.
Stick your own watch in a glass of water but asking someone else to do it is irresponsible and somebody on the team noticed.
Get your watch fixed. The ban was for selling watches 9 and U2 in USA with that feature, no ban on the feature itself.
BS I have had 4 PE's my O2 stats are normally at 88-92% at any given time. So I would never leave the hospital if they went by your reply! For me 79% is time for O2 that I have. At 69% then it is ER time! Because I most likely have an another PE. I have 2 medical grade Pulse-ox sensors. I have compared them to the Apple watch And found the watch to be quite accurate. If I send my watch in for repair and they have to replace it. Will they give me a new one that won't have the Pulse-OX in it? That's all I wanted to know! I know you reported my reply to apple or you work for them!
I called Apple and was spoke with an Apple watch tech. I was told if I send my watch in for repair, I will lose the Blood Oxygen sensor in it! He stated that they will not update our watches we have now so to remove the Blood Oxygen sensor feature in it! We get to keep it!
So I was right about that part! I will wait for more updates and then decide if I want to lose my O2 sensor or just reset my watch!
I would not want to lose the oxygen sensor but I find it a novelty feature and the results to be questionable. For example, right now it told me my sat is 93%. As a retired healthcare worker, I believe that's ridiculous. You can get a proven fingertip sensor on Amazon with a 4.6 start rating out of 12,000 reviews for less than $25. Do not worry about losing the O2 sensor feature ... and don't trust it either.
Hi thank you for your reply! As a retired EMT and my wife a current RN, I have 2 very expensive finger tip medical grade O2 sensors! I have had two Apple watches that had O2 sensors in them and I found for me that the apple watch Blood oxygen sensor to be within about 98% accuracy compared with my finger tip sensors! I have enough to carry all ready. Secondly the price for the Watch as you know is not cheap either! When apple gives you back the watch minus the O2 sensor do you think they will give you back any money for the loss! That part is what I don't like the most! We bought the watch for our own reasons and you should get back what you paid for!
The United States Federal courts banned the import of Apple watch with the Blood Oxygen sensor feature into the USA. The Court does not have the power to stop UK from getting them though. So right now Apple has removed that feature from the watches that they are selling here! Apple was allowed to sell off the watches they already had in the USA before the ban went into effect.
I was flat out told by Apple watch technician on the phone. If I send it in for repair it, I will lose that feature.
The Ultra2 is a certified dive watch, so I would bet if it goes in for repair they just replace the watch just like they did for you. They probably don't want the risk the safety of a diver if the watch leaks from an improper repair! So I would get one that doesn't have the feature!
But it was nice that you got one!
This problem happens so sporadically, like once a month for me. I believe it is software problem that will be fixed! So I will wait because I also have Apple care+ on it!
All Apple Watches are replaced when repaired even for a battery change.
Certified? Are you certain? "Suitable for recreational diving no more than 40 metres" was what I understood.
Apple Watch Ultra 2 has a water resistance rating of 100 metres under ISO standard 22810. It may be used for recreational scuba diving (with compatible third-party app from the App Store) to 40 metres and high-speed water sports. Apple Watch Ultra 2 should not be used for diving below 40 metres. Water resistance is not a permanent condition and can diminish over time. For additional information, see support.apple.com/en-gb/
Only if a watch is tested under ISO 6425 standards conditions and meets them, it has the right to be marked “Diver's,” and will show the depth rating in meters. The test is way in advance of iso 22810
This is on apples web site. The Apple Ultra2 watch is sold as a DIVE WATCH EN13319 certified, An internationally recognized standard for diving accessories. "Apple Watch Ultra 2 puts a bona fide dive computer on your wrist. Made for recreational snorkeling, scuba diving and free diving down to 40 meters!"
So yes it is a dive computer! People with standard dive certificates can only dive to 130' or 40 meters!
It has a built in dive computer with safety stops for recreational diving! I'm an advanced diver But due to health reasons I only dive recreational 130' dives but with safety stops. I have many dive computers and some failed on the first dive! Like this one in the pic. Note in the first pic, the black line going down through my depth info. It should read 82'! By the end of the dive it was dead second pic! I couldn't do my second dive because of that!
