Some features of my Apple Watch stopped working suddenly despite it being updated. The display does not show as I turn my wrist, the double tap to dismiss doesn’t show and when it does, it doesn’t work and the watch isn’t recording my distance during my activities

If restarting your Watch didn’t work, and you say you’re not in Theatre Mode, the next step would be to unpair your Watch from your iPhone and then pair it again. If all else fails your only option would be to take your Watch to an Apple Store or Apple authorized service provider for examination and diagnosis.

That sounds as if it could be Theatre Mode. Tap on the side button to bring up the Control Center. Make sure that the button with the two masks is not active.
