Why have a swim mode on a watch you can’t swim with?

The SE watch has a swim mode on it. I was instructed to put watch in swim mode to keep water out of the watch. I had four SE’s that have died in the water when in swim mode.

The Apple Watch is always water resistant. Water Lock just disables the touch screen and the buttons, except for the button action that exits from Water Lock.

Water Lock does not add any extra water resistance.

However, soaps, perfumes and other solvants can damage the water seals.
