Battery drained 98 to 0% after on reboot

MBP 2014 model running Big Sur latest version

seems to happen when very cold but does this mean new battery (is possible to replace?) or new Mac?

MacBook Pro 15″, macOS 11.7

It can be replaced. Start here: https://support.apple.com/mac/repair

It's also a good idea allow a Mac that has become cold-soaked sufficient time acclimate to a reasonable temperature before using it. You may wish to review your MacBook Pro's environmental tolerances here:

MacBook Pro (Retina, 15-inch, Mid 2014) - Technical Specifications

  • Operating temperature: 50° to 95° F (10° to 35° C)

Beyond those tolerances, unexpected things can occur.
