iCloud deletes Baldur's Gate 3 save files

I'm trying to play Baldur's Gate 3 on my MacBook Pro but it will continually delete the save files from my Documents folder. I clicked the cloud icon to download the files to my local drive, and now a few hours later they are gone again. How can I prevent iCloud from deleting specific files on my local drive?

I've tried disconnecting and reconnecting the iCloud, restarting the computer, and clearing all of the cache from Google Chrome/. This happens across all browsers, and seems to only affect this device with the new updated OS. Any ideas?

iCloud files not showing up in Finder I have a lot of files stored on my iCloud Drive. I have recently noticed that when I navigate to some folders through the Finder the files within are not visible. If I login to iCloud via Safari and navigate to the same folder the files are actually still there. This seems to happen with older files that I have not used for some time but also appears to a bit random. Some older files are visible and some are not so it doesn't seem to be consistent in terms of age of the files. I have tried turning off and on the 'Sync Desktop & Document Folder' in Finder Settings but that hasn't fixed the issue. I have a 2018 MacBook Pro running Sequoia 15.3.2 How can I re-sync everything without losing any files?

iCloud has deleted files in my Desktop (...kind of?) I'm a college student and have been using my Desktop hooked up to iCloud as an easy way to have all of my files on every device. Recently, in the time directly following a hefty build for my final project, my iCloud storage (200GB plan) filled up, and now the majority of the files aren't there when I open the folders on my Desktop. Weirdly, they still show up on my iPad and my iCloud drive on the browser. This makes me think it might be a problem with my Mac rather than iCloud— I also upgraded to the 2TB plan (which was going to happen eventually), but the issue is still present. Worst case scenario, I can redownload the files from the browser, but them existing on other devices suggests that would just duplicate them.

If you elected to optimize storage, you cannot choose which files may be offloaded.
