how to change your MAC password from your keychain password

Hi

I need to take my Mac in for service - the password for the iMac 2019 is the same as the keychain - how can i make it so the service people don't have access to my passwords?

i tried another password manager but it is not very compatible with safari


any ideas would be great

You can make your Keychain password different than your Mac login password. It's kind of a pain, as you'll be nagged for your Keychain password....but it's possible. You could, I suppose, change your Keychain password back to the same as your Mac login password after you get your Mac back from service.


Regarding password managers, I've used 1Password for years, and feel it's the best out there. 1Password Link. It works well with Safari (and the entire Apple ecosystem, for that matter).
