VOLUME NOT WORKING

I have 2015 Macbook and my volume isn't working when I got into audio settings it doesn't show me the "Internal speakers" option. When i connect my Mac to airpods or headphone the volume works but the mute button in the audio settings is also greyed out and unable to unmute my laptop. I have tried to go to audio MIDI but its saying there are no output or inputs. Please help..

Loud headphone audio despite low volume settings on MacBook Air My sound audio input/output settings were around the middle before the problem. Whatever the default is. I tried adjusting them lower and it actually plays the sound loudly. The bar is at the lowest volume it can be in "output volume" but my headphones play the sound so loud it hurts. This is at volume 1. It's very frustrating and I need to know how to fix it. My computer seems mostly normal. I believe it is the fault of the sound settings. No sound on MacBook Air I cannot see 'output speakers' when I click on 'Sound' 'Output' for MacBook air 2011 - when I hit the 'increase volume' key I see a 'speaker icon' and underneath is a circle with a line through it.

Did you already try the Apple Diagnostics, to test your MacBook Air?

Do the internal speakers work, if you start your device in Safe Mode?
