iPhone can’t text android phones individually OR on a group text!

I’m a Verizon user with an iPhone 15 pro max. I recently switched back to Verizon about 3 weeks ago because AT&T coverage was spotty in Hawaii and I was used to being in the Verizon network. Yes, so AT&T was short lived and I’m back on Verizon.

About a week after my lines transferred over, my group texts with iPhone and android users started acting up. If send a text to the thread and the replies all came back individually. My friends would say that something was wrong with my message so I started texting them individually over 2 weeks of contacting Verizon. They kept saying that it’s my MMS and SMS setting, reset network, turn off/on etc. Nothing worked!! the Verizon tech-level 2 even got an apple support person on the call and they both kept pointing finger at each other. Really?! Yes…

Yesterday, I called Verizon back 1-800-922-0204, and stated my problem again, heard that it could be a provisioning alignment issue. The tech Michelle (Filipino accent) said to turn off WiFi, turn off turn off iMessage, turnoff SMS and then turn off my phone. She would call me back on another line.

She called back, she instructed me to turn the phone on, test the texting. The individual text to android worked but the group text with android users didn’t.

She then said to do a Reset All Setting. I did that and she must’ve did something on the backend, when the phone came back on, I texted the group thread and the thread worked like it did a month ago!

Finally……got back to NORM!!

My advice, it’s not the iPhone, it’s not the iOS 17 updates. It’s something on the Verizon system that has to be updated or aligned again! Keep pushing hard to get them to resolve your issue!
