I have a number of videos stored in the “Apple TV” app on my Mac that are from other sources than iTunes Store purchases (e.g. videos purchased from other services or home videos). How can I watch these on my Vision Pro? On my iPad I can sync with my Mac, but the Vision Pro doesn’t seem to have a way to do that…Or does Vision Pro only allow you to watch movies purchased from Apple?

Moon Player is definitely a way to go. I copied my media files onto my iCloud Drive, then moved them to the On my Vision Pro folder.
Yes you can also view using the native viewer in Files.
The biggest problem with both approaches is not having the ability to stop watching mid way through a show and then not being able to pick right back up where you were. (Also not having the cinema immersion is missing).
I have submitted the request multiple times to Apple for adding some mechanism to import to the AVP TV app.
Here's hoping there will be some announcement at WWDC.
Sorry am still new to the idea of purchasing an AVP, if you are on a plane, on a beach, somewhere without connectivity can you still watch movies stored presume on the device itself?..I have 500GB of films on my Samsung and wondering if they can be uploaded to the device?...is that doable?

Unfortunately, you can't see Network drives in the Files app on the AVP like you can on Macs.
Of course you can. Hit the three dots, choose 'Connect to Server'
Apple supports h.264 in mp4 and mov formats. So I'd try one of those
