My phone is showing an “iPhone Unavailable” sign on the lock screen how do I fix it without losing my data?

My phone screen was blank from just before Christmas and I hadn’t had it fixed until earlier today. After getting it fixed my iPhone came back with a message that read “iPhone Unavailable”. I tried to search how to fix this but the solutions I get involve having me losing my data and I have pictures and certain school data on there which I can’t lose and they aren’t backed up either. What do I do?

iPhone 13, iOS 16

Potential Causes of "iPhone Unavailable" Message:

1. Screen Replacement Issues:

The message might be triggered by the screen replacement process, and it could be related to the restoration of the device's functionality post-repair.

2. iOS Software Conflict:

Sometimes, changes in hardware configuration or repairs can lead to software conflicts or errors, causing the device to display unusual messages like "iPhone Unavailable."

Tips to Resolve the Issue Without Data Loss:

1. Restart Your iPhone:

Begin by restarting your iPhone to see if that helps to clear the "iPhone Unavailable" message. Sometimes, a simple restart can resolve temporary glitches.

2. Update to the Latest iOS Version:

Ensure your iPhone is running the latest version of iOS. Updating the software might address any compatibility issues that arose during or after the screen repair.

3. Attempt a Forced Restart:

If a regular restart doesn't do the trick, try performing a forced restart. For iPhone 13, you can do this by quickly pressing and releasing the Volume Up button, then quickly pressing and releasing the Volume Down button, and finally holding down the Side button until you see the Apple logo.

4. Contact Apple Support:

If the issue persists, reaching out to Apple Support is a good next step. They can provide guidance tailored to your specific situation and may offer solutions to resolve the "iPhone Unavailable" message without data loss.

5. Data Recovery Tools:

As a precaution, in case the situation escalates, it might be worth considering data recovery tools designed to extract data from iPhones under certain circumstances. However, these tools come with their own set of risks and limitations, so it's generally recommended as a last resort.

6. Backup Options:

Moving forward, consider setting up regular backups for your iPhone data to prevent such situations in the future. Apple's iCloud or iTunes can be used for automatic backups, ensuring your important photos and school data are always safely stored.
