Both my iPhone and MacbookPro needed batterie replaced is that common_

I am having problems with my MacBook Pro bought December 2020 , it tells me the battery needs to be changed. I had similar problems with my iPhone. Is Apple shortchanging us by putting bad batteries in their products?

No, Apple is not shortchanging us by putting bad batteries in their products.

Batteries are expendable components that wear out. If you keep any battery operated device long enough you WILL have to change the battery. Just when that replacement is required depends in large part on your patterns of use of the device. Four years for a laptop doesn't sound unusual. Likewise for a phone.
