What is the lifespan of Macbook 2016?
I would like to know what is the normal duration in years of the Macbook 2016 A1706?
I have similar defects on similar machines.
MacBook Pro 13″, macOS 14.3

Also, checking Apple's Vintage and Obsolete page, a 2016 Mac should still fall under the Vintage category and be repairable by Apple or Authorized Service providers. If that particular one declined to repair it, you may need to go to a different one.

There is no predetermined lifespan for a Mac or any computer.
It depends on usage and care of it. People have been known to use 10 and 12 year old Macs correctly and fine.
What defect exactly do you have? A defect implies something wrong with the machine from manufacturing. Not an issue developed over time with use and handling.
Its possible the battery simply perished. It is something that can fail and is not tied to the otherwise unknown life span of a computer.
Yes, a third party service center, may be able to replace the battery on an 8 year old computer.

Hard to say. I have a 2012 MacBook Pro that still runs without issue, other than it no longer gets current updates. Macs in general appear to be reliable. Electronics do fail on occasion. What "defects" are you referring to?
I went for a vacation of 15 days and leave the Macbook A1706 on the desk disconnected from the power supply.
I have the lastest MacOS version installed.
I had also completed the shutdown cycle before close the lid.
No impact... no liquid damage... my home office have humidity control and no dust because I am allergic.
Just died.
I have my iBook G4 12" still running since the day I bought it. Is where I listen my old music library daily. Since 2004 up and running fine.
The Macbooks Pro I had issues with this A1706 and also my M1 died the screen. That was replaced with the flats.
I did. I even take to a Apple Authorized Repair shop where they tell me they don't have parts because is a vintage machine and they recommend to search for a non Authorized Repair Shop to check a donor Logic board.
Did they "fiddle with it" ??
--- or just dismiss you because they don't have parts.
if you have described the situation accuarately:
that it was working,
then you left it unplugged from power for 15 days,
Then you reconnected it out power and allowed it to slow charge for some time,
then Reset the SMC which requires religiously following the procedure in that article with EXACTLY the sequence described, and tried that multiple times,
and connected the power adapter and attempted to start up,
then it should be working as well as when you left it.
You know! I will do it again. Leave at least two days connected to the power supply.
But yes... appears they were avoiding to service this Macbook Pro. That is odd because I never had so disrespectful treatment as customer using Apple. This time is clear that things has changed.
Thx buddy!
Have you connected the power adapter and allowed the battery to charge for a substantial amount of time, like overnight?
Once you have, try an SMC reset:

I will try it!
Thank you guys for the answers.
