Gmail works fine on my iPad and iPhone but google fails the login with a 400 error using Safari on my iMac (Retina 5K, 27-inch, Late 2015)Mac OS Monterey 12.7.3 Safari history deleted, gmail account deleted in Mail app., iCloud gmail turned off, restarted and no luck. I can login to my google account fine and turned off 2 factor authentication. Still fails to allow me to add back my gmail acct to Mail app. What is the fix???

UPDATE:
The problem was that Google does not play well with Safari and won't even let you know the error is their fault. I launched Chrome browser and was finally able to get my gmail account back on Apple Mail on my iMac.

You may need to set up an app specific password. Open your gmail in a
browser and there should be an option in the settings where you can
specify Apple mail as the client needing the specific password, copy the
password and use it to login to gmail on Apple mail.
