Playing IOS.MOV files on mac?

I spent almost an hour reading posts with similar topics but had no success actually finding an answer. I have multiple files, with names like date_numbers_IOS.MOV, 20191214_055450000_IOS.MOV. I want to try to organize everything and free up space but when I click on the filename I get an error re: this document isn't compatible with QuickTime Player. It's not like I recorded these with a non-apple device. Some of the other docs basically said that we need to analyze the file to determine what codec was used. These vids are from iPhones, Apple hardware, so I don't understand why I can't play them on my mac. I tried the right click/open with Apple TV, that didn't work. I tried the right click/Open with App Store and that just generated an error. I tried to search the app store for IOS.MOV, no results. I know that some of these videos are from once in a lifetime events, family gatherings which won't happen again due to deaths, furbabies playing who have also passed away, so any assistance would be greatly appreciated. NOTE: Due to side effects from something that was made almost mandatory, my income is drastically reduced so if at all possible I need a solution that doesn't require me to spend a lot of money.

Your sample name indicates 2019. Do you also see older files? If so, what years do you find (what is the oldest)?

These vids are from iPhones

Then someone renamed them. Not an issue per se, but your sample names are not original names (like IMG_8818.MOV). Someone did that renaming, so don’t infer technical meaning from the current name (like searching for ‘IOS.MOV’ isn’t meaningful).
