XR completely died, wouldn't charge or turn back on for 2 days

My XR was charing and working just fine on Sunday night. When I plugged it in before bed that evening I realized it wasn't charging anymore. We cleared out the port several times. Still nothing. Tried multiple chargers, nothing. Then it started quickly overheating, and acting really weird. My facial recognition stopped working. It kept turning itself off and on over and over again. Finally it just completely died. We plugged it in overnight. Wouldn't turn on the next day. I search for different ways of trying to get it to work and it wouldn't do anything. I took it to our cell phone provider, they plugged it in and let it sit for a while and it didn't do anything. I ended up buying a new phone. I then plugged in my XR overnight again to see if I could get it on at all to get things uploaded to the cloud. It turned on for a short amount of time and was at 8% but immediately stopped charging upon turning it on. So it died, and this happened about 10 times. I was thankfully able to get my pictures all uploaded to icloud. Then magically, the phone started charging and went to fully charged in about an hour.

All I can think is that it's working now because the sim isn't active, because there was no other change. Has anyone else experienced this? I'm frustrated at having bought a new phone, and now my XR is suddenly working.

When was the last time that you had the battery replaced on the iPhone?

Check Settings > Battery > Battery Health > Maximum Capacity

If Max Capacity is under 80%, the battery needs replacing immediately

$69 (U.S.) at the Apple Store or an authorized Apple service shop. You can find a list of authorized service shops in your area using this link:
