Apple TV 3rd generation not working

Hey everyone. I have a 3rd generation Apple TV and I have recently moved houses and need to connect the TV to new wi-fi so I can airplay. Everytime I press a button the light on the Apple box flashes but does nothing else (won’t move or change). It is currently stuck on the screen that just says computers and settings. I can’t use my phone remote as the TV isn’t connected to wifi- can’t connect to wifi because the remote won’t work. I have replaced the battery and tried holding menu and pause down as well as the middle round button and pause button but nothing seems to fix it. Any help would be great thank you!

You could also run through these troubleshooting steps for your remote:

(It sounds like you might have been trying some of these button pushes)
