Naming a dropped pin on Apple Maps

I'm in the USVI so addresses work here very, very differently than they do anywhere else in the world (that I know of). They're often stupid (from my perhaps naive perspective).

So to find a location, such as a piece of property we would like to view for prospective purchase, I have to open the realtor map, then open usvi.map.geo and finally apple maps and cross check against all 3 to get the "right" location.

Once I have the location I can drop a pin on it. So far, so good.

However, Apple Maps assigns a name to that pin that Apple Maps believes corresponds with the address. It isn't even close. (Don't get me started on how every road in an "Estate" has the same name. 10 roads all named "Hannah's Rest" so siri directions will say turn left on Hannah's Rest, go 1/2 mile, turn right on Hannah's Rest, go 500 ft, turn on to Hannah's Rest. It hardly helps that the map diagram doesn't match the roads.)

Given the above, I think you understand that I am using my MacBook not the iPhone.

So I have a dropped pin. I know from all my cross-checking that this location is 44A LaGrange. I can put the pin into "Favorites" and name it "44A LaGrange", but it still shows up in "Recents" as "dropped pin", and on the map itself as "dropped pin" or sometimes as the address Apple Maps "thinks" is correct.

I really don't want to save this in Favorites, it may be a one time visit.

This problem seems to be a recurring question. I've visited several of those sites purporting to answer the question, but often, after I've followed "step 1" "step 2" is nowhere to be found.

Why can't I drop a pin and name it whatever I want to?

Yes, I've tried the "..." on the upper right.

I noticed that after I added another dropped pin, that the one previously configured had its name changed on the map from what was in "recents" to the name I saved it under in "Favorites". (by clicking on the "i" in the Favorites listing.)

Ok, slowly moving on.

There are two properties in the 00850 zip code. One is on a marked road that is in Apple Maps, the other is not. I dropped a pin on the one that is 'off road' and Apple Maps labels it 00850. I saved it to Favorites and named it something useful.

I then dropped a second pin on another property that is about 1/2 mile away, but which requires some serious detours top get to from the first. The pin was dropped just fine, but Apple maps wants to name it 00850 on the map and "Dropped Pin" in recents. I cannot save the new pin to Favorites. I'm only given the option of removing it from favorites.

OK, I have sent the location to my phone. It does not show up on "recents" but it in "Favorites". I click on it and apple maps assumes I want direction, which it cannot give me, so it zooms in on my location rather than the location of the dropped pin.

Lucky me, I have Google Maps so I can mark the second property separately.

I dunno. Apple maps is kind of a mess.
