How can I find my brothers lost phone if his phone is the only device that gets a code to sign into iCloud?

2 things here. Do you have to be on the same Apple ID to find an apple device? If so, you need 2 apple devices signed into that Apple ID. I get the security part of this but it's not a real world answer. I do not want my brothers phone on my Apple ID. And when I sign into his Apple ID to find his phone.. a code is sent to the stolen phone? Really? Alerting the crook? Really? Second thing, is Apple needs to bring back the simple finder. It was on Mac long ago. More than ever seniors need something easy, without all the frustrations of signing in and passwords. Even if it sends it to a family member so they can tell them from afar, what to do.

I know there is a child setting and yet he would have to be on my Apple ID then. I'm not sure I want that. Anyone have a fix for this. It's driving me crazy with all these security codes and passwords and taking me hours to try and get this new phone set up for my brother.

You need to be signed into the same Apple ID. It does not need to be a device already using the same Apple ID, tho. As for the two-factor authentication code. Per Find your lost iPhone or iPad with Find My - Apple Support if you do not have a trusted device you will need to use a browser and go to icloud.com/find The /find it very important as this takes you to sign in with only your Apple ID password, no verification code needed, so you can put the device in Lost Mode and track it.


Second thing, is Apple needs to bring back the simple finder.


For two factor authentication Apple has two given features. One called Recovery Contact Help a friend or family member as their account recovery contact - Apple Support and the other Find My Friends. Find friends and share your location with Find My - Apple Support Either of which I think is what you may be looking for, too.
