Unable to disable read receipts for specific contacts

Hello I was wondering is someone could help me out.

By default read receipts are turned off on my phone, which is what I prefer.

I don’t have the option either on my contact to disable as per support on Apple has suggested. I can’t understand why I can’t see the contact be disabled for read receipts.that option does not display when I click on the message contact.

Anyone know how to fix this? This is becoming an issue due to business policies.

Double Check the following:

Open the Messages app ➡️ Tap on a Contact ➡️ In the Message window, tap on the contact at the top: This action will open a window and when you scroll down, then you will see an option to Send Read Receipts. NOTE: Read Receipts only work with iMessages and not SMS/MMS.

If you still do not see the Send Read Receipt option, then I have a question and that is, is your iPhone issued to you by your employer or another organization? If YES, then the administrator may have policies installed on the iPhone and de-activated the feature.
