Unable to update macOS on MacBook 2012

I'm trying to update my mid 2012 macbook from 10.9.5 50 Catalina and hand have had no luck.apple gave me a link but my browser is not updated enough someone help pls

You may have to first upgrade to 10.11 El Capitan.

Guidance and a link for that download is in this doc:

How to download and install macOS - Apple Support


After you have upgraded to El Capitan, then you can upgrade to any of these, up to Catalina.

➡️ Download the macOS upgrade installer app:

Click > macOS 10.13 High SierramacOS 10.14 Mojave or macOS 10.15 Catalina.

Once downloaded, double-click the “Install macOS…” app now found in the Applications folder to begin the upgrade.

❗️– IMPORTANT – 

None of your old 32-bit apps will work in macOS Catalina or newer, including MS Office, Adobe Photoshop and many other older apps and drivers. This will require that you find 64-bit updates and/or replacement titles.

32-bit app compatibility with macOS High Sierra 10.13.4 and later - Apple Support


Use the free utility Go64 to check the 64-bit compatibility of your currently installed apps:
