You would think so, right? But Apple will not let you own a physical copy of a purchased song even though you paid for it (song downloads are no longer possible, just the right to play songs you've purchased. You can't pass them on the way you can hand over a CD, but instead only send a link so others can listen but they can't do anything else with them). I'm an ASCAP singer-songwriter and Recording Academy member myself, but this is going too far. AppleMusic won't let me send a DJ the actual song to save and use in his show--even though I own 100% of the publishing, mechanical and performance rights to it. I'm furious at Apple for killing iTunes in favor of this streaming fad. People should be able to do what they want with music they bought and own--especially if THEY hold the copyright to it to begin with.
What's even more infuriating is that MY OWN SONGS (which I wrote, performed & recorded) and painstakingly ripped from my own CDs used to be on my hard drive but have now disappeared so that not only others but I myself must go online and stream them!
