iOS 17.3 has broken Apple CarPlay

Since updating to iOS 17.3 Apple CarPlay no longer works for my iPhone in my car. It still works perfectly for my partner and daughter, who are still using iOS 17.2. Does Apple realise there is serious bug?

SOLUTION FOUND. I sell cars for a living and i found the fix for my customer and was curious to see if other people are having the issue:

the update moved carplay into the the restricted apps under screentime. To fix this go to settings>screen time> content & privacy restrictions> turn carplay BACK ON. Why the update switched it off is beyond me but that seems to be the fix 👍🏼

Same problem with 17.3.1 update. CarPlay won’t start even though I can connect via Bluetooth. When I connect via USB cord it connects as the bolt comes up on the battery icon, but nothing happens. CarPlay won’t starts. I’ve tried all the fixes except restart the entertainment center and none have worked. I’ll try restarting the entertainment center tomorrow, but it sound like that isn’t a permanent fix though.

My skip buttons on the side of my steering wheel had stopped working after the update. Additionally, I can’t look at my recent phone calls list. As soon as I disconnect my phone from the official apple lighting cable and go to Bluetooth, everything works. Apple needs to fix this immediately! I’m not happy with this update, it made things worse, I wished there’s a way to revert back to 17.2.

Same issue here. Worked with three different Apple support people thru text and phone calls. Checked many settings, reset many settings, checked different cables. Nothing solved the issue. It’s not the wire connection cuz the phone is charging. But my car is not recognizing the phone.

ios problem. Please please fix

You don't need to do it with every update, and if your car is only a month old and you purchased new, things like this should be covered under the terms of your vehicle's new car warranty.

The fact that your car is asking if you want to enable wireless CarPlay and does nothing when you tell it that you do tells me that the issue is in your car's entertainment system.

Has anyone had any luck reporting this to Apple? I sent them a bug report but not heard anything back.

I have deleted my phone from CarPlay and reinstated it, have tried to reboot entertainment system but cant see where to do this other than turn it on and off, have changed wires / changed USB socket etc.

Sometimes I can get it to work for music but there is no sounds for SMS or Waze.

This is really annoying!
