MacBook Pro Storage when copying files

I am trying to copy files to/from an external hard drive to a network drive but I keep getting told that I need XX amount of storage....

I am ONLY using 113GB out of my 500GB hard drive and it is still saying it.

The files I am trying to transfer are between 3-18GB but whatever I try it just says I need slightly more then the file I transferring

I have already removed 122GB of stuff and it is still saying it

It's driving me mental now because no matter how much I delete it still says it.

I have tried googling but a lot of the website only give you 'solutions' when you actually are using a lot of memory so are useless

I have already tried restarting, used clean my Mac to delete lots of useless files

MacBook Pro 13″, macOS 14.3

Start by uninstalling CMM per the publisher's guidance.

How to uninstall CleanMyMac X - cleanmymac.com

If you have any other clean-up, antivirus, speed-up, optimizing or VPN software, please disable and/or uninstall it from the Mac. These apps are unneeded and very often conflict with the proper operation of the macOS. You can search these communities for confirmation of that.

With those types of apps out of the way, empty the trash, restart your Mac and see if you can move forward with your task.

Is your Network Drive mounted?

Okay, completely uninstalled everything like that as suggested and it still didn’t transfer

I’ve tried the following as well

  • Transferred files from external hard drive to USB - worked fine
  • Transferred a couple of files from external hard drive to Mac hard drive - worked
  • Transferred those files from Mac Drive to network Drive - fail
  • Transferred files from USB to network - fail
  • Dad used his MacBook pro to transfer same files to network. No issues.
  • I’ve tried single files, as well as folders, no change
  • I’ve tried adding into sub folders, no change
  • Dad has checked admin, login of network all running fine
  • We can’t transfer anything over 638 MB
  • I have 346GB free on my internal HD
  • Reset multiple times

We are stumped
