iTunes for Windows (Apple version) won't update iPhone 15 iOS

I purchased a new iPhone 15 a few weeks ago and it came with iOS 17.1.1. I have been unsuccessfully trying to update the iOS since then through iTunes for Windows (12.13.1.3 -- Dec 2023). I can successfully download the update. I can see the update (iPhone15,4_17.3.1_21D61_Restore) on my hard drive in the iPhone Software Updates folder.

However, when I click the "Update" button in iTunes, I get the following message: "To update your iPhone to iOS 17.3.1, you need to install the latest version of iTunes." The Dec 2023 update is the most current version of iTunes for Windows. Didn't have any problems updating my previous iPhone (an original SE) through iTunes. Also I can backup and sync my music in iTunes on the new phone with no issues.

Anyone have suggestions or solutions? Thanks.

I know iTunes is being phased out, but the current replacement apps are still brand new and not really functioning that well (according to comments made). Plus for me, why do I need 3-4 separate apps to do what 1 previously did (not a big iTunes hater). For the times I actually use iTunes (phone updates, occasional music purchases and syncing music to the phone), it worked fine for me.

As for updating from phone, I just feel more comfortable with a wired connection. Personal preference.
