Apple Pay not showing in United App ver 4.1.103 on iPhone 11

United Airlines accepts Apple Pay (only for purchases made in the United app with a U.S. billing address). I’m using United app newest version 4.1.103 on my iPhone 11 to book new flight tickets; however, the United App does not present Apple Pay when I click ’Select a different payment method’. Phoned United Airlines for tech support, but agent could only offer to type feedback and forward to tech support without any follow-up commitment. Is this a known United app bug or Apple Pay configuration issue?

SOLVED!  Via phone call, United Airlines tech support escalation manager just now informed solution to enable Apple Pay.

Step 1:  iPhone Settings > Face ID & Passcode >  USE FACE ID FOR: > select “Wallet & Apple Pay” by sliding toggle button to green (on).  

Step 2:  Sign into United app using mileage plus number + password which will prompt a pop-up alert ‘Face ID enrolllment’.  Tap ‘Enable’ for Face ID enrollment.  After competing these two steps, Apple Pay will appear via link ‘Select a different payment method’ at the purchase final payment step.  In summary, Face ID must be enabled before Apple Pay will appear in United app.

Thanks for posting this. I dealt with multiple United people today who didn’t have a clue as to why the Apple Pay option wasn’t being displayed and, of course, it took hours to not get a solution until I came across your post. Needed to use AP for a newly issued credit card that hasn’t been received yet. Thanks again for sharing l

I tried your solution and I still can't get it to work. I have the latest version software, phone, and Apple Pay. I turned on the face recognition and still it is not showing up as an option for me in the United App. I just opened a new United credit card and want to use it to pay for travel but I haven't received the physical card yet. I was able to add it from my chase account to Apple Pay but I can't seem to get Apple Pay to work on the united app... anyone found any other solutions?
