Hello, I found my very old Sony Cybershot DSC-W200 camera and want to transfer the photos to my iMac. However, I cannot seem to find the Sony device listed within the 'Computer' folder of Finder, can anyone help me please? I thought I was looking for something called DCIM?? I am not very technical at all so apologies if this question is a bit basic.
DCIM would be the name of a folder inside a volume mounted on your computer. The online copy of the user manual suggests that the camera has to be placed in Mass Storage mode before you connect it, and shows a possible volume name of "Removable volume" on Windows.
What you are seeing on the camera screen does not seem to match what is described in the online manual. I would expect to see a choice between "PictBridge" and "Mass Storage" rather than "USB" or "Memory Stick" as in your screenshot.
PictBridge mode might require a download, but the only download offered for that model camera is quite outdated and may not work on a modern Mac.
Appreciate you coming back to me. I am still struggling. I have attached a photo of the screen that shows on the camera when I plug into my iMac but I cannot see the camera showing anywhere for me to view on iMac (if you know what I mean). Do I need to download any software?
Hello! I have been back to Sony and they have suggested I check that I have the right OS per manual. This is ios X which I think was circa 2004? I am not surprised as my Sony camera is so old. Is this now a fruitless task? Have I got any options do you think? Thanks again
