https://craigslist.org/ will no longer load on older Safari versions. I am not certain which newer version it requires or when it stopped working, but Safari v 13.1.2 won't work with it.
You will need a newer browser. I suggest Brave:

You will need a newer browser. I suggest Brave:
While in Safari, open its preferences (this is assuming on a Mac). Click the Extensions heading at the top. Any extensions installed will be listed in the left. You can uncheck the box on each to disable them.
Same has been happening more on a MacBook Air (13-inch, Mid 2011) w Safari 13.1.2
Unfortunately it's the nature of the __ after it was decided to tie updates with new OSX versions.
Once you get excluded from OSX updates, no more browser updates except for security.
I will say it has been very consistent since OS 9
I Use 3rd party browsers, but be aware if they are still doing security updates for the versions that will run on your Mac.
if I search online for one of the errors in Develop/Show Web Inspector (Failed to load resource: the server responded with a status of 404 (Not Found)), it looks like it's an issue with the coding of the site.
I don't think they haven't updated the site (much) after CN retired years ago.
I did get it to load a page disabling styles but then other things don't work like the link to reply to the post or get the contact info.
Unless someone knows something else you can disable/enable in Develop or Experimental Features menus to make it bypass the problem, it probably won't work (or all the time).
For El Cap, your only choice is Firefox. The Brave installer .dmg expanded to "no mountable file systems".
The solution is Open Core Legacy Patcher and an SSD hard drive. Im now running Monteray OS and Safari 17.1. Hard drive upgrade was about 100$ for 2tb. This is on a 2010 MacBook Pro pretty slick:). “Family Geekery on you tube has a great instructional video. Good Luck:)
No problem here.
You may have a third party extension installed that's causing the problem. You could also try a different browser, such as Firefox or Brave. I very, VERY strongly recommend NOT installing Chrome.
Understandable. I have been under the impression Brave should work, although it will caution you that it is the last version that will run under High Sierra. They stopped supporting HS not long ago.
If Brave will not install or function Firefox is the next best choice:
https://www.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/new/
It will install something called their "extended service release" which is a nice way of saying it's not long for this world either.
I checked and CL will load with either one.
I'd be great to be able to post a request to Craigslist for a response to this. Lots of websites that have been around as long and are often considerably more complex, for example, where you can purchase via the site, etc., still work totally fine with older OSs. For example, Ebay. Also, it would have been nice if they posted a notice on their site letting people know this change was immanent.
Yes, plenty of other browsers do work, but Safari just integrates so smoothly with everything else on the Mac. I've been using Opera since the change.
For a week or so I have not been able to log into Craigslist using Safari 13.1.2 . I have an older macbook 2010. I can log into it using Google Chrome. Is this becuase Safari will not update anylonger or is there anothe issue that I need to consider? I have no extensions.
I, too, have been unable to load Craigslist for about 2-3 weeks. I then just upgraded macOS from 10.11 to 13 which included an upgrade to Safari 13. Still... No Joy. Cleared History. There are NO Extensions. J'script is enabled. WHat's up ?
I just tried installing Brave, but it requires a later OS than I use. I'm using High Sierra and on a second computer, El Cap. That's because I have a lot of older photo gear, cameras, scanners, printers, etc., that require software that won't run on anything newer than these old systems. It would cost me a fortune to update all this stuff, and other than the OS issue, I have no problems with any of them. Just a tad frustrating.
How does one find extensions and determine which might be the problem?
Can't say I disagree.
If it isn't an extension, CL may need to fix coding on their side.
I gave them some info from the Web Inspector, we'll see if they have any ideas.
