I'd like to use my late 2013 Imac as a second monitor for my 2023 macbook pro with M2 chip.

It is a computer and is not supported as a display for your 2023 M2 device. Purchase a decent third-party (e.g. LG) display for your needs.
You could also consider third party solutions such as Luna Display or Duet Display.
VikingOSX is correct, please follow that advice.
True that would work however how is the performance, reliability, licensing of the software. IMHO an upgrade xternal display as suggested is the best overall solution.
