Microphone is not working on my iMac

My mac doesn't seem to work with my microphone, internal or when I plug in headphones with their own microphone. Even weirder, when I was in a call, the online software could pick up when I was talking, but no sound came through. And when sounds come out of my computer's speakers, the input volume in system settings indicates that those sounds are being picked up too. But when I speak, completely dead input level.

Problem is fixed - I took it in to a repair centre, and apparently when I glued the screen back on I somehow blocked some physical connection with the microphone internally.
