I'm connecting my superdrive directly to either of the two rear USB A on the Mac Studio. When I insert an audio CD it is not recognised in either Finder or Music. Eventually the CD does get ejected. Does the Superdrive work with the USB A connections on the rear of the Studio?

As stated, plugged directly into rear of Mac Studio (No hub).
Finder > Settings General and Sidebar tabs for CDs & DVDs were and are checked
Re Music > Settings etc...this option not shown on General Tab (Mac OS 14.3.1)
As stated the pop up menu when a cd is inserted does not appear. Similarly, neither does the cd drive show in the sidebar. So that link doesn’t help. But thanks for the effort
the CD Drive will never appear in Finder.
Only Mounted data Volumes appear anywhere in Finder. Music CDs are generally not data volumes.

Try digging around in and changing the Import Settings.

Thanks guys for the help. To date nothing has worked. On the off chance it's a USB A issue with the Studio I've order a USB C to USB A adapter off Apple and I'll try one of the USB C sockets.

All I can say is that my Superdrive works fine on my 2022 M1 Max plugged into the back USB-A port. I just ripped a CD the other day. Your report shows that the operating system sees the drive so it should be working. From what you say you insert a disc and eventually it is spit back out and not mounted.
That helps, in that at least I know it should work with the USB A port. Yes, happens to ever disc. I hadn’t thought of the cleaner disc, so I’ve ordered one. Many thanks
Last post: Thanks all for the support. Sadly I never found a resolution. Tried another Mac and still no avail. Guessing I had a bad unit. Bought a cheap generic player off Amazon and it worked first time
