I have a Mac Mini 2012 and am having difficulty getting the Canon printer scan facility to connect.
The printer has been used for Bluetooth printing recently from iPhone, iPad & Mini.
I’ve plugged it into Mini but scanning facility will not appear on any menu.
help!

To be specific, compatibilities are between the computer's operating system and the printer's drivers/software. The normal process is to check the Cannon web site to see if a scanning software for your device is available to work with the computer's operating system. If so, download and install that. If not, then you can click on the link below and find a scanning app that will most likely work with your scanner. You can try it for free with a watermark. It is well supported and I use it and can recommend it. I have no association with the vendor.

Have you installed the Canon scan software that works with your current installed OS? if not, do that and then reset the scanner.
I got a 2015 27" iMac to work with the Canon scanning program and a Pixma MG 2520. The Canon scanning software on the support site works with some of the earliest Mac OS versions. The scanning program worked great on a 2017 iMac but wouldn't load on the 2015. By trial and error, I experimented with different drivers and the scanning program versions and got it to work. My OS was Monterey. Your latest is Catalina and the scanning utility was listed for it. Good luck.
Sadly my OS is not compatible with the old printer.
