No sound on videos after iOS update

Hello,

I recently updated my iPhone to the latest iOS version, and since then, I've encountered an issue where the sound on videos from any social media platform doesn't play while my phone is on silent mode/ringer is off. Before this update, I was able to watch videos with sound while my phone was on silent mode. This feature was particularly useful as it allowed me to listen to the audio from videos without being disturbed by notification sounds.

I've tried restarting my phone multiple times in hopes of resolving the issue, but unfortunately, it persists. I would appreciate any guidance on how to fix this issue.

iPhone 12, iOS 17

Here are some steps you can take to troubleshoot and possibly fix this problem:

1. Check Silent Mode Settings:

   - Ensure that your iPhone's silent/ringer switch is properly set to ring mode. Sometimes, accidental settings changes can lead to sound issues.

2. Volume Settings:

   - Confirm that the volume on your iPhone is turned up. Adjust the volume using the physical buttons on the side of the device while playing a video to see if the sound returns.

3. Silent Mode Behavior:

   - In some cases, certain apps may mute their audio when the phone is on silent mode. Check if this behavior is consistent across all apps or specific to certain ones.

4. Toggle Silent Mode:

   - Try toggling the silent mode switch on and off a couple of times to see if that triggers the sound to work properly on videos.

5. Ensure App Permissions:

   - Check the app permissions for the social media platforms you're using. Make sure that the apps have permission to play sound even when the phone is in silent mode.

6. Reset All Settings:

   - If the issue persists, you can try resetting all settings on your iPhone by going to Settings > General > Reset > Reset All Settings. Note that this won't erase your data but will reset system settings.

7. Contact Apple Support:

   - If none of the above steps resolve the issue, it might be beneficial to reach out to Apple Support for further assistance. You can contact them here.
