“The Simpsons” Purchased on Apple TV is Displaying in the Wrong Aspect Ratio

As the title states, I’ve purchased 15 seasons of the Simpsons for my Apple TV library, but they are showing in 16:9, which as we all found out from their release on Disney+ is a terrible way to view them; tons of sight gags get cut out etc.

How do I view them in their natural 4:3 ratio?

If they’re encoded this way, then Apple has made the same mistake that Disney+ made, but never bothered to fix it, which would turn out to be something of a waste of a lot of money for me.

As Apple gets its Store content supplied as a finished product from the originating studio (Fox/Disney in this case), I would expect that the content is encoded as the studio saw fit. I don’t expect a “remastered version” on|off toggle (=aspect ratio) for Apple TV Store content, as Disney+ supposedly now has for this.

Options may differ by country or country-like region, as each Store region has their own copy.
