Is this adapter narrow enough to enable me to connect two peripherals side-by-side to my MacBook Air?
Yes. Its just a tiny bit wider at the USB-C end than the actual USB-C port. You should be able to comfortably fit 2 of those on the ports on the side of your MacBook Air.
