Transitions don't appear in Final Cut Pro

Template provided by, and used in Final Cut are actually INSIDE the Final Cut app package.

The two paths to those templates are:

Final Cut Pro > Contents > Plugins > MediaProvides > MotionEffect.fxp > Contents > Resources > Templates

Final Cut Pro > Contents > Plugins > MediaProvides > MotionEffect.fxp > Contents > Resources > PETemplates

[There's also IOSTemplates, but those are only Effects]

In my version of FCPX (10.4.10) there is no category Angle Wipes and there are no templates named Basic - BL to TR, etc...

So that probably means that the transitions are 3rd party additions (and I have NO idea why they would have been installed FCP purchased with a MacBook.)

If they exist on the computer, check OTHER user accounts (Macintosh HD / Users /) in the Movies folders ( > Motion Templates > etc...). If they're found there, they can probably simply be moved to the current active user folder's Movies > Motion Templates > ...

Otherwise, if they are 3rd party and have a specific installer (like FxFactory, etc.) then they will need to be dealt with via the installer. FxFactory and the like are basically viruses installed to keep track of how you're using (ostensibly) their software, but there's no way of knowing what else they're doing in the background — you're just supposed to "trust them".

The only other place they would be installed is for ALL users in

/ Library / Application Support / Final Cut Pro / Templates /

however, in this case, they would not be "hidden" and would appear, no matter what user was logged on, in Final Cut.

When you set up a new Mac, you always have to set up a unique user account. If the transitions were installed prior to that, then they aren't installed for the "current user". They need to be moved into the appropriate user account.

That said, the second image you're showing me is the Blocks Category. I will assume that there is a collection of transitions with various categories, also missing.

What is the source for the 3rd party transitions? Was an installer used? (Motion Array?)

If there's a limit, it is huge. Both in my own studio, and the TV stations I worked, we had massive Motion Templates libraries, and never had issues. I mean MASSIVE amounts of templates. Something I've always railed against, as with that many, you have a ton you're never touching, wasting space and resources.
