Can't give new apps camera permissions

I need to allow QuickTime to access the camera and microphone, but the application isn't one of the options in Security & Privacy. The only applications on the list are Chrome and Zoom. My understanding is that these applications requested access to the camera.

Is there a way to "force" QuickTime to request access to the camera? If so, how? And if not, how do I add QuickTime to the list of allowed applications if the add/remove button is missing?

(Please note: Quicktime regain access to camera and mic… - Apple Community assumes that this button exists and does not fix the issue - specifically, step 4 does not apply, because QuickTime is missing from the list.)

Any reason why you stayed at that, and not update to 12.7.3 (or later if supported)?

Personally, I am no longer on Monterey, so I can’t verify the exact setting options that you should see.

It seems QuickTime Player has access to the built-in camera ‘automatically’ on my system (Sonoma), as QTP isn’t listed in System Settings among the apps that have been granted permission, and that works fine (iPhone camera is much better, though).

Your referenced post was from 2019/04, so Mojave 10.14.4 era, and wouldn’t directly apply to Monterey 12.x, as that was then still 2.5 years away.
