Send button on both iMessage and messenger

This just started maybe a week ago. When I try and hit the send button it doesn’t respond at all but when I tilt the screen to vertical mode it works. Kind of a pain since i like the landscape mode but it just wont work. This happens on facebook messenger app also.

iMessage vs text I noticed that sometimes when you send an iMessage it still says iMessage in the text window. And other times it doesn't say that at all. Does it mean the recipients phone is off or does it mean you're blocked? What causes is the difference?
