I get this error when I try to copy from my Mac to a NAS device.
The operation can’t be completed because an unexpected error occurred (error code 100093).
This is "only" when I'm using finder....
CP -X file can do the jo with no problems
I'm running Sonoma 14.3.1 on a macbook pro M1

why did you have to specify the -X flag when using CP? does this file have extended tributes or a resource fork?

In most cases, using a network device as the destination launders out the nuances of file system differences.
I would expect 'ordinary' issues like permissions issues to be reported as access problems, possibly even with helpful error messages.
Obscure or complex problems like Bad Blocks on the destination network device might still be too complex for reliable copying. For example, you might be seeing "copying is flaky" rather than "copying REQUIRES cp command instead of Finder."
I guess if it were mine I would copy over one more file I did not care about, to be sure if there were Bad Blocks on the destination drive they got filled up first. Then test again.
I have been copying files from my MacBookPro to my WD NAS device for a long time without any trouble. Yesterday, I got the 100093 error message. I was moving a PDF file from my Mac to my NAS device. It created a new PDF file on the NAS with 0 bytes, and deleted the original file from my Mac's drive. Fortunately, I was able to "undo" the move and save the files. I rebooted my Mac and tried again, this time with no problems. Today, I got the 100093 error message again. I'm going to reboot again and see if that fixes it. I certainly hope they figure out what is causing this, because I dont want to have to reboot my Mac every time I want to copy files to the NAS.
This is really- really strange !!
I was trying to boot my Mac in safe mode to verify that my prpoblem persist.
I was not quick enough to hith the shift key, so me Mac boot up nomaly
But now the copy with finder works ???
Strange because I have tried to reboot several time to se if this would "fix" the problem.
I will be back with more findings.

the files are jpg and mp4 files.
I have tried to copy many .jpg files without "X" option and this failed. Now I tried again and it seesm to work without the "X" Option
I'm having the same issues saving to a WD Nas server
on the verge of replacing the NAS.
there is no solution we have seen proffered here.
If this was working, but changed in a Mac software update, you may need to contact official apple support. You will need to be assertive, and do not let them tell you it is fine if it is NOT fine. you will likely have to ask for a specialist.
To file a Bug Report, they are going to want to see this behavior in a Mac with NO third-party add-ons, such as running in Safe Mode.

well, This might be right, but this has been working before like a charme. It started after a MACOS update, but I'm not sure wich one :-( one or two major update since.
Right now I'm using "Double Commander" for moving a large amount of files (10.000) as this is the only one that can copy witout any error.
I have several WinPC that are using the NAS device without any problems, and my Mac has "before" also worked...
Some additional searching around this error yielded additional insights.
It appears the default confguration of the WD Server does not support everything Apple devices need to be successful. you may have to modify the configuration of the NAS server software.
According to https://krypted.com/lists/comprehensive-list-of-mac-os-x-error-codes/ , 100093 is "kPOSIXErrorENOATTR" ("Attribute not found"). It looks like there's special support for Apple SMB clients in Samba.

My is also a WD NAS device, but this has been working before. I'm pretty sure that a MacOS update caused the propblem. Have you found any solution for your problem ?
Update
Now the problems is back. It seems that after a while using the NAS device on and off the problem re-occure
(error code 100093).
