Create a bootable USB stick for MacBook Pro early 2011

I try to create a bootable USB stick in order to install El Capitan on a MacBook Pro early 2011.

I use a MacBook Pro 2021 to do this, I get this error message command not found below.

Do I need to use a MacBook from early 2011 in order to create this bootable USB stick?

kennethstrid@MacBook-Pro-som-tillhor-KENNETH ~ % sudo /Applications/Install\ OS\ X\ El\ Capitan.app/Contents/Resources/createinstallmedia --volume /Volumes/MyVolume --applicationpath /Applications/Install\ OS\ X\ El\ Capitan.app

You’re linking to the Swedish-language version of that same procedure.

Follow the direct web download path in the how-to-install that I linked to. Not the App Store path. Then unpack it, if you can. Then use the createinstallmedia command. The “command not found” error usually means the installer app isn’t available. Which can mean not downloaded, or not unpacked.

Here is the related documentation: Create a bootable installer - Apple Support

Do you have the Install OS X El Capitan.app downloaded and present in Applications?

If you followed the web download instructions in the following article and got yourself a DMG, you’ll need to unpack that into an app first, and then run the above createinstallmedia command:
