I was contacted by someone claiming to be from AppleCare, was it a scam?

The other day, I received a call (I didn't answer, but they left a message) and an email from someone claiming to be from AppleCare Help Desk. (It was in regards to this discussion that I started here: https://discussions.apple.com/thread/255454132?sortBy=best )

They left a phone number, and the address the email was sent from is acsupportcase@apple.com.

They asked me to call them back, giving good days and times to call them, and a URL to message them directly if I wanted.

Is this a scam or legit?
