The program files are installed and icon is present but any attempt to open iTunes is met with the above response.

What version of iTunes is it?
Have you tried to update it to a newer version?
What version of iTunes was the library created on?

Thanks for the reply, I downloaded the app from the Apple site which I thought would be ok but after uninstalling and downloading from the Itunes site all seems well, thank you for your advice.
New Dreamquest mini pc with Windows 11, after successful download I am informed "the file iTunes library cannot be read because it was created by a newer version of iTunes."
