Move to Junk on Apple Mail doesn’t train the Gmail spam algorithm
If you use the Gmail app to mark a message as spam, the Gmail algorithm learns from this action and sends future messages from that sender directly to the Gmail junk mail folder.
But if you do the same from within Apple Mail (either on iPhone or macOS) the message is moved to the Gmail junk mail folder but Gmail spam algorithm doesn’t learn to block the sender. I think this is strange because Gmail supposedly learns from any message you move into this folder, it should not matter what client you use to move it.
My email address is very old (created since the launch of Gmail) and I get a ton of spam, most of it is caught by the Gmail spam filters, but it’s very annoying that I cannot mark an email as spam from within Apple Mail which is my primary email client. I am always forced to open the Gmail app on iPhone or to open the Gmail webpage if I am on my Mac to mark messages as spam and train the Gmail spam filters at the same time.
Has anyone experienced this?
