Low quality dental photos with Iphone 15pro

Hi, I have just upgraded from Iphone 12pro to Iphone 15pro. I am a dentist and I have to take dental photos from small distance every day. I noticed, that photos with 12pro was so much better than 15pro... Teeth with 15pro looks out of focus and noisy. I tried to tap on the tooth to focus and all other different ways, but that didn't help. Please give me some advice, because 15pro disappointed me and I even wonder to get back to my old 12pro....

I hope you get the help you need. For reference here are two photos I just took of a paperclip sitting on my desk with my iPhone 15 Pro Max:

First photo taken at a distance:

And this from just above the paperclip and no, I didn't zoom or crop the image. They are two totally different photos. And for this photo, I was almost on top of the paperclip.

The inside of the mouth is rather dark, so are you using Night Mode, which requires you to hold the camera very steady for several seconds, or are you using flash photography? The bottom line here is we are all just users on this user to user only forum. We can offer suggestions as I'm doing, but you may be better served by showing the phone to Apple for directly help.

I can take amazing macro shots with my phone.

That's what Macro Control should do automatically when trying to focus on close up objects. I can take amazing detail close up with my 15 Pro Max. If you feel your iPhone is not doing as expected, visit your Apple Store Genius Bar and let Apple test it. I will tell you, my dentist doesn't use a cell phone for dental photos. He uses a camera with a Macro lens for that purpose.
