Downloaded fonts show as installed but aren't available for use

I downloaded two fonts I need for work. Both went through the automatic verification in font book, both are showing as installed when in fontbook, however, I cannot use them in any application on my macbook air: word, google, excel, outlook etc. I am running Catalina 10.15.7 I've followed every instruction I can find to fix it but nothing works. I've added them to collections, I've followed advice from another post, changing the font book preferences to the other location. Help please!

Please provide the names of the two fonts.

None of the apps you mention are from Apple. Do you have the same problem with Mail, TextEdit and Pages? In the latter two, also check Format > Font > Show Fonts > All Fonts to see if they are on that list.

If it turns out it is only Office which is not working right, a good forum for that is
