Mail crashes when opening

I have an iMac 20-inch early 2008 running OS 10.11.6. Mail crashes when opening even when I open it pressing the SHIFT key.

I tested opening it using my guest account and it crashes there too. It is weird because I have the same mail accounts on my Macbook Pro running OS 13.6.3 and Mail works just fine there.

I thought of deleting the mail accounts from my Mail on my iMac but I don't know how to do it without opening Mail.

Any help will be most welcome.

Thanks for the detailed suggestions.

Safe mode - crashes

No internet - crahese

Rebuild mailboxes - no time to do this because it crashes before I can do anything

I think the problem is with an Exchange account, but I don't know how to exclude this account without launching Mail. Will look into this.

Thanks, good work. Were you able to login to WebMail in a Browser?

To find out if it's system wide or user specific, try this...

Open System Preferences>Users & Groups, unlock the lock, click on the little plus icon, make a new admin account, log out & into the new account.

Does it work in the new account?
