iTunes and contacts not synching to iphone

Bought a new iPhone, set up but new music put on iTunes (music) on MacBook Air not appearing on phone. Some contacts also missing. Any idea what the problem may be?

How can I sync my iPhone w/MacBook Pro? Tried doing several suggestions but nothing is working. sync phone just got a new Mac book pro and can't download iTunes to it all to sync my I phone music pictures calendars nothing old Mac book plugged in phone and i tunes would automatic's sync all my info from phone ? Thanks
